With the 2025 Calgary Stampede wrapped, work has begun on a bold new chapter for Stampede Park. Demolition of the north infield building kicked off immediately after the event, making way for a new premium hospitality experience: seven luxury suites and a rooftop party deck overlooking the GMC Stadium infield.
Demand for premium space has surged in recent years, with over 100 parties on a waitlist, according to Stampede CEO Joel Cowley. The new addition is expected to enhance the park’s year-round appeal and potentially attract more large-scale sporting events outside the Stampede’s 10-day run.
But that’s just the beginning. As part of a long-term strategy, the relocation of Weadickville is also underway to prepare for the Truman–Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel, slated to open in 2028. Meanwhile, global firm Populous—lead designer on the BMO Centre expansion—has been engaged for a two-year study of Stampede Park and its linkages with 17th Avenue and Calgary’s Culture & Entertainment District.
Future planning will evaluate the 1919 Agricultural Building, the Saddledome site, and even the Big Four Building, all with the goal of positioning Stampede Park for its “highest and best use” into the next generation.
