A warm welcome to Team Canada Olympians Courtney Sarault and Mikaël Kingsbury, this year's Calgary Stampede Parade Marshals, fresh off remarkable performances at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
As Sneak-a-Peek ushers in another year of the Calgary Stampede, it's also worth remembering that "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" is one of Alberta's most significant economic drivers.
The Calgary Stampede generates an estimated $721 million in annual economic impact across Alberta. Analysis by the Mastercard Economics Institute found the 2025 Calgary Stampede also generated an estimated 18% lift in spending at local merchants compared with expected baseline levels, with restaurants experiencing one of the strongest gains at approximately 29%. The analysis also found retail spending accelerated ahead of opening weekend, while accommodation demand built early, particularly in downtown Calgary.
For those of us in commercial real estate, the Stampede is more than a world-class event—it's a long-term city-building investment. The Calgary Stampede's recently unveiled 20-year Master Plan builds on transformational investments such as the expanded BMO Centre, SAM Centre and Nutrien Western Event Centre, while envisioning additional mixed-use development, enhanced public spaces, new event venues and modern agriculture facilities. Together, these investments will continue to strengthen Calgary's Culture + Entertainment District and reinforce downtown as a destination for business, tourism, entertainment and investment.
Hats on. Boots ready. Let the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth begin.
