Tourism Calgary, WestJet, YYC Calgary International Airport and the Calgary Hotel Association have launched the Calgary Stopover Program, a new initiative designed to encourage international travellers to spend time in Calgary rather than simply connecting through the airport.

Each year, more than seven million international travellers pass through Calgary without leaving the airport. The new program allows eligible WestJet passengers to add a Calgary stop of up to seven days at no additional airfare cost, while accessing hotel offers and local attraction discounts.

This is more than a tourism initiative, converting even a small percentage of connecting passengers into overnight visitors can support hotels, restaurants, attractions, retailers and the broader local economy. It also reinforces Calgary's growing role as an international gateway connecting North America, Europe and beyond.
