Calgary has awarded $30 million in capital funding to seven local organizations to build 480 affordable housing units across the city. From Forest Lawn to Parkdale to Downtown West, this city-backed initiative is targeting shovel-ready projects that can deliver real housing relief in the near term.

As population growth continues to accelerate, Calgary’s housing strategy is beginning to take shape at the project level. With another $30 million in HCI funding expected later this year, the total impact could exceed 1,000 new affordable homes.

The focus is clear: move fast, build smart, and meet Calgarians where the need is greatest.
