Alberta Still Calling—Quietly

While Alberta continues to lead the country in net migration, the pace is slowing.

In Q1 2025, the province welcomed 10,268 international net migrants and 7,176 interprovincial—still strong numbers, but down 72.5% and 30.5% respectively from a year earlier.

What’s changed? Nationally, population movement is moderating—but Alberta’s core advantage remains: more attainable housing, economic resilience, and a strong quality of life.

Even as the volume dips, the message holds: Alberta is still calling. For developers, employers, and families planning long-term, the fundamentals remain compelling.
