Calgary’s film industry is bouncing back, with a record-breaking number of production scouts in Q1 2025 and major projects from Netflix, MGM+, and others now in motion. High-budget productions like Billy the Kid and Reminders of Him are actively filming, and Calgary Economic Development reports growing international interest—particularly from Korea and Europe.

This resurgence carries real estate implications across the city. From soundstage development and set design warehouses to longer-term demand for hospitality, retail, and creative office space, Alberta’s evolving media landscape is reshaping how and where space is used. Ongoing policy discussions, including potential increases to the province’s film tax credit, will be crucial to sustaining this growth and attracting top-tier productions.
