Calgary’s emerging creative economy just got a major boost. Bow Valley College has officially opened its new 3,560-square-foot Digital Entertainment Nexus Production Hub a $5.5 million state-of-the-art studio featuring immersive audio, motion capture tech, a soundstage with a volume wall, and post-production labs. It’s the only space of its kind in Calgary, and among the few in Canada.

Funded by the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund, the hub aims to support professional film and TV productions while training the next generation of digital talent. It’s also designed to be a commercial revenue stream, welcoming producers and independent creators seeking on-demand production capacity.

For Calgary’s CRE and innovation economy, this marks a meaningful step in anchoring year-round content creation—not just location shoots. As studio infrastructure scales alongside educational investment, this kind of facility strengthens Calgary’s case as a full-service destination for film, post-production, and digital content.
