First National Financial is being acquired for $2.9 billion by private equity giants Birch Hill Equity Partners and Brookfield Asset Management.


Founders Stephen Smith and Moray Tawse will retain minority stakes, while CEO Jason Ellis and the leadership team stay on to manage over $153B in mortgages across 325,000+ clients.
